Solution - Percentage of the candidates failed in Science = 52%

Percentage of the candidates failed in Mathematics = 42%

Percentage of the candidates failed in both = 17%

Percentage of the candidates failed in only Science = 52% - 17%

  = 35%

Percentage of the candidates failed in only Mathematics = 42% - 17%

 = 25%

Percentage of the candidates passed in the both subjects = 100 - 35 - 25 - 17

 = 23%

Hence,

The correct option is (c)23%.
