Jim Corbett National Park

Established – in 1936 (by Sir Haley)

Total Area – 520.82 Sq. Kilometers

Location – Nainital, Pauri Garhwal

  • Corbett National Park is the first national park not only in India but in Asia.
  • After independence, it was named Ramganga National Park, but in the year 1957, in the memory of the great nature lover Jim Corbett, its name was once again changed to Corbett National Park.
  • To enter this park, the entrance has been made at Dhikala of Nainital district, which is 144 km from Nainital district headquarters, this area is very close to the municipality Ramnagar.
  • It was declared as the first tiger conservation park in India on 1 November 1973. After the declaration of a protected area, there has been a steady increase in the number of lions in the park,
  • About 570 bird species, 25 reptile species, and 75 mammals are found in this park.

Govind National Park

Establishment – ​​1980

Location – Uttarkashi

Area – 472 square kilometers

 

Nanda Devi National Park

Established – 1982

Location – In Chamoli district

Area – 624 square kilometers

  • This park is situated at an altitude of 5431 m.
  • There is an abundance of animals and birds in this park like a Himalayan bear, snail, mast deer, monal, musk deer, Bharal, etc.
  • The headquarter of the park is in Joshimath.

Valley of Flowers National Park

Established – 1982

Location – In Chamoli district

Area – 87.5 square kilometers

Discovery – 1931 (Frank Smyth)

  • The park is situated between the Nar and Gandha Madan mountains at an altitude of 3600 meters above sea level.
  • Pushpavati river flows here, which originates from Kamet mountain.
  • The main attraction here is the thousands of varieties of flowers and rare animals.
  • Its headquarter is Joshimath.

Rajaji National Park

Establishment – ​​1983

Location – Dehradun, Haridwar, and Pauri Garhwal

Area – 820.42 square kilometers

  • 23 types of mammals, wild animals, and 313 types of birds are found in this park.
  • Sal, Khair, Shisham, Jhingan, Kharpat, Balki, San, Chir, Siras, Rohini, etc. are prominent in different types of vegetation here.
  • Its headquarter is in Dehradun.

Gangotri National Park

Establishment – ​​1989

Location – Uttarkashi District

Area – 2390 square kilometers

  • The main wildlife in Gangotri National Park are Snow Leopard, Himalayan Bear, Musk Deer, and Bharal and the main birds are Monal, Kokalas, Tregopan, etc.
