Ques - A milkman purchases the milk at Rs. x per litre and sells it at Rs. 2x per litre still he mixes 2 litres water every 6 litre of pure milk. What is the profit percentage?

Solution -
C.P. of milk = Rs. x
S.P. of Milk = Rs. 2x
He mixes 2 litres water every 6 litre of pure milk.
C.P. of 6 litres of milk = Rs. 6x
C.P. of 2 litres of water = Rs. 0
C.P. of total 8 litres of mixture = Rs. 6x + Rs. 0
= Rs. 6x
S.P. of total 8 litres of mixture = 8 × Rs. 2x
= Rs. 16x
Profit = S.P. - C.P.
= Rs. 16x - Rs. 6x
= Rs. 10x
Profit percentage = [(S.P. - C.P.) / C.P.] × 100
= (10x/6x) × 100
= 1000x/6x
= 16.66%
Therefore,
The profit percentage is 16.66%.
Hence,
The correct answer is option (b) 166.66%.
