Glaciers in Uttarakhand – The major glacier districts of Uttarakhand are as follows:
Pindari glacier is located in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Chamoli districts. The length of Pindari Glacier is 30 km and the width is 400 m.
Gangotri glacier is located in Uttarkashi district. Its length is 30 km and width is 2 km.
The Khatling glacier is situated at a distance of 10 kms from Kedarnath. Musk deer are also found here.
Chorabari glacier is situated at a distance of 3 kms from Kedarnath. The length of Chorabari Glacier is 14 km.
The Satopanth and Bhagirathi glaciers are located at a distance of 17 km from Badrinath. Their length is up to 13-18 km.
Bandarpoonch glacier is located in Uttarkashi district, whose length is 12 km.
Milam Glacier is located in Munsiyari of Pithoragarh. The length of the Milam Glacier is 16 km. It is the largest glacier of Kumaon from where the Milam, a tributary of Pindar, and the Gori Ganga, a tributary of Kali, emerge.
