Ques - A person loses Rs. 20 by selling some bananas at the rate of Rs. 3 per banana and gains Rs. 30, if he sells them at Rs. 3.25 per banana. The number of Bananas sold by him :

(a) 100

(b) 200

(c) 120

(d) 2400

Solution -

Let,

The sold Banana = x

A person loses Rs. 20 by selling some bananas at the rate of Rs. 3 per banana.

SO,

SP 1 Banana = 3x

CP = SP + loss

CP 3x + 20  ___________  (1)

And,

Gains Rs. 30, if he sells them at Rs. 3.25 per banana.

SP of 1 Banana = 3.25x

CP = SP - Profit

CP = 3.25x - 30   _________ (2)

From eq. (1) and eq. (2)

3x + 20 = 3.25x - 30

3.25x - 3x = 20+30

0.25x = 50

x = 50 / 0.25

x = 200

The number of Bananas sold by him is 200.

Hence,

The correct answer is option (b) 200.
