Solution -
Let,
B = 100
A = (100/2)
A = 50
A got a 50% rise in his salary = A + 50% of A
= A + (50% × A )
= 50 + (50% × 50 )
= 50 + [(50/100) × 50]
= 50 + 25
= 75
B got a 25% rise in his salary = B + 25% of B
= B + (25% × B)
= 100 + (25% × 100)
= 100 + 25
= 125
Combined original Salary of A and B = A + B
= 50 + 100
= 150
Combined New Salary of A and B = 75 + 125
= 200
The percentage increase in combined salaries of both = [(New salary of both - original salary of both) / original salary of both] × 100
= [(200 - 150)/150] × 100
= [50/150] × 100
= 33.33
Hence,
The correct option is (b) 33.33%
