Ethics Case Study - 2

Q: You are an administrative officer. You are invited to a wedding ceremony with a minister. In the marriage ceremony, you see that both the bride and the groom are still minors. What would you do in such a situation?

Answer - Child marriage still exists as a serious social problem in many provinces of India. Laws related to this have been enacted, but often they are neglected and disregarded. In fact, child marriage is a legal offense.

It is the duty of an officer to first inform the police about this criminal act and immediately stop this child marriage and also inform his minister about this criminal act and suggest stopping it. Often inform about this criminal act and suggest to stop it. Often officers are not able to take up such courage. They give importance to human co-relation but neglect the moral responsibility inherent in it. They understand that they need to intervene in this, but if such criminal acts happen in the presence of administrative officers and ministers, then the general public will get more strength.

The officer should not only stop this particular marriage but also try to increase public awareness against this social evil by using other means of communication to remove it. The cooperation of other organizations can also be taken in this regard. To make an action plan related to this social evil,  you should talk to your higher officials in the meeting. That is, the administrative officers should be directly exposed to the social problems because the law has been enacted on these social activities,  but due to administrative laxity, these criminal acts keep on increasing in abundance. The administration should take strict action on this.
