First Amendment Act, 1951

The amended provisions of the constitution through the first constitutional amendment-

 

1. Power was given to the states to make special provisions for the advancement of social and economic and backward classes.

 

2. Provision of property acquisition etc. to protect the law.

 

3. Land reforms and other laws related to judicial review ranked in the ninth list

 

4. Exercise of restriction on the freedom of thought and expression for three more major reasons, such as public order, friendly relations with foreign states, incitement to an offence. The sanctions are justified and thus justified.

 

5. Provided that State trading and nationalization of any trade or business by the State  cannot be declared illegal merely on the ground that it  infringes the right to trade or business.
