History of Citizen Charter

In the last two decades, vigorous efforts have been made to sensitize the administrative system around the world to the people, keeping in mind the essential elements like promoting a cordial situation between power and common people, public welfare-oriented initiatives, etc. In 1991, the then Prime Minister of Britain, John Major, started the Citizen's Charter. These charters describe all those rules, laws, procedures, and rights of the organization (administrative office)  which promote the interests of the public.

Not only this, through these rights letters,  importance is given to making the public aware of the administration and ensuring transparency in the administration. After the establishment of the Citizens' Declaration, new dimensions of progress emerged in Britain, that is, here every year the Prime Minister presents the report of the manifesto established by the ministries before the Parliament. This Citizen's Manifesto is a voluntary promise of service organizations to the citizens of the state. There is a complaint book for complaints on every desk of the office and these complaints are heard by the officer outside the department. So we can say that citizen manifestos are very popular in Britain.
