Ques - In the New Stock Exchange there are 45% female employees and thus the number of male employees is exceeded by 72. Hence the total no. of employees in the New York Stock Exchange is :
(a) 540
(b) 720
(c) 7200

Solution -
Let,
Total number of employees = 100x
Total number of females = 45% of 100x
= (45/100) × 100x
= 45x
Total number of males = 100x - 45x
= 55x
Difference between males and females employees = 55x - 45x
= 10x
Thus,
The number of male employees is exceeded by 72.
10x = 72
x = 72/10
x = 7.2
Total number of employees = 100x
= 100 × 7.2
= 720
Hence,
The correct answer is (b) 720.
