Indus Valley Civilization Crafts and Industry

Indus Valley Civilization Crafts and Industries Business: In the Indus Valley Civilization crafts and industries, many items such as spinning-weaving, jewelry, utensils, and tools were manufactured in the business. They used to trade with the country and abroad using bullock carts and buffalo carts for transport.

The people of the Indus Valley Civilization or Harappan Civilization took great interest in agriculture and animal husbandry as well as in crafts and industries.

Artifacts and industries of Indus Valley Civilization or Harappan Civilization -

  • Spinning-weaving tools, spindles, needles, etc. have been found in the excavation, which shows that weaving cloth was a major occupation of the Saindhav people. Remnants of cotton textiles have also been found here, from which it is known that the first cotton cultivation in the world started here.
  • The first use of silver in India is found only in the Indus Civilization.
  • The inhabitants of the Indus Civilization used to do industries like metal making, utensils making, jewelry making, tools and equipment manufacturing, etc. Also familiar with the transport industry.
  • The residents here also used to do carpentry business, this is confirmed by the evidence of wooden objects.
  • The use of the potter's wheel was also in abundance in this civilization because the pottery (pottery) obtained from this civilization was shiny and smooth.
  • Making pottery on chalk, making toys, currency, jewelry, tools, etc. were some of the other major occupations of this civilization.
