Revolutionary Bhu-Vision: IoT-Based Soil Testing and Agronomy Advisory Platform Launched for Farmers

Bhu-Vision is an innovative Internet of Things (IoT)-based automated soil testing and agronomy advisory platform that has been recently launched at AICRP (ICAR-IIRR) in Hyderabad. This platform, also known as KRISHI-RASTAA Soil Testing System, is a joint development of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) - Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR) and KrishiTantra.

The primary goal of Bhu-Vision is to provide quick and accurate soil testing results to farmers and stakeholders. It accomplishes this by seamlessly conducting 12 essential soil parameter tests within just 30 minutes. The results are then made available to farmers through a soil health card, which they can access directly on their mobile devices.

The Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR) was originally established as the All India Coordinated Rice Improvement Project (AICRIP) by ICAR in 1965. Its headquarters are located in Hyderabad. The institute's mandate includes conducting basic and strategic research to enhance rice productivity under irrigated ecosystems, coordinating multi-location testing to develop location-specific rice varieties and technologies for different ecosystems, as well as disseminating technologies, providing capacity building programs, and establishing linkages with various stakeholders.

Overall, Bhu-Vision represents a significant advancement in agricultural technology, as it empowers farmers with timely and precise information about their soil health, enabling them to make informed decisions and optimize their farming practices for better crop yields and sustainability.
