In place of the collegium system for the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court and High Courts, a new body "National Judicial Appointments Commission" was established. However, in the year 2015, the Supreme Court declared this amendment unconstitutional and nullified. As a result, the collegium system which was in place earlier was reintroduced.
