The amended provisions of the constitution through the 97th Constitutional Amendment-
By this amendment, a constitutional place and protection were given to the cooperative societies.
The following three changes were made to the Constitution by the amendment:
(i) The right to form a cooperative society became a fundamental right.
(ii) Incorporation of a new Directive Principle of Promotion of Co-operative Societies in the policy of the State.
(iii) A new Part-IX-B named "Co-operative Societies" was added to the Constitution.
