Ques - Pepsi and Coke, there are two companies, selling the packs of cold - drinks. For the same selling price Pepsi gives two successive discounts of 10% and 25%. While Coke sells it by giving two successive discounts of 15% and 20%. What is the ratio of their marked price?

(a) 143 : 144

(b) 19 : 11

(c) 136 : 135

(d) 73 : 77

Solution -

Let,

The MP of Pepsi = P

Pepsi gives two successive discounts of 10% and 25%.

SP of Pepsi = P × (90/100) × (75/100)

= P × 0.9 × 0.75

The MP of Coke = C

Coke sells it by giving two successive discounts of 15% and 20%.

SP of Coke = C × (85/100) × (80/100)

= C × 0.85 × 0.8

SP of Pepsi and Coke is same.

SP of Pepsi = SP of Coke

P × 0.9 × 0.75 = C × 0.85 × 0.8

P / C = 136 / 135

Therefore,

The ratio of their marked price is 136 : 135.

Hence,

The correct answer is option (c) 136 : 135.
