Needs that give social value to an individual.

What are social needs?

Social needs are those needs that give social value to an individual. These provide opportunities for individuals to play an active and useful role in society.

When we talk about social needs, we mean such things as appreciation, companionship, acceptance, and belonging.

These needs can be met when we interact with other people. To measure them, Maslow's pyramid is usually used, which classifies all the social needs of people according to the degree of importance they have.

Examples of social needs

Here are some social needs:

  • Friendship, that is, having a group of friends.
  • Receiving affection from another person.
  • love.
  • Family.
  • Having valued participation in a certain social group.
  • Cultural activities.
  • Identification and sense of belonging within a certain group.

Importance of social needs

As social needs play an important role in each individual, they must be satisfied for people to effectively develop their activities.

These needs, in general, are satisfied by developing links with other people, with whom they share common identities.
