Ques - Tinkawala purchased the articles for Rs. 123684. He sold 60% of those at a profit of 16.66% and rest at a loss. Find loss percentage on the remaining if the overall loss is 14%?

(a) 20%

(b) 30%

(c) 60%

(d) 66.66%

Solution -

Let,

Total number of articles = 100

CP of 1 article = 1

CP of 100 article = 100

SP of 100 articles = 100 - (100 × 14/100)

= 100 - 14

= 86

He sold 60% of those at a profit of 16.66%.

CP of 60 article = 60

SP of 60 articles = 60 + (60 × 1/6)

= 60 + 10

= 70

CP of 40 articles = 40

SP of 40 articles = SP of 100 articles - SP of 60 articles

= 86 - 70

= 16

loss = CP - SP

= 40 - 16

= 24

Loss percentage = (24/40) × 100

= 60%

Hence,

The correct answer is option (c) 60%.
