What is the reason for the need for right to information?

The first premise of the need for the Right to Information is that it  brings empowerment to the people by increasing the knowledge of the people about the governance processes. It creates the necessary conditions for open governance  . Which forms the cornerstone of democracy. Right to information  enhances the right of the people in the government which is an important basis of democratic governance. It  enables citizens to be informed of the happenings in the  government and co-participates in public policy-making and administration by maintaining the secrecy of the decision-making process in the government  . This helps in improving the quality of overall governance in the public interest  . Right to information has brought about a change in the quality of government and Open and transparent access has ensured accountability and responsiveness to the needs of the public  . It bridges the gap between the administration and the public,  promotes public interest in administrative decision-making and reduces the chances of corruption. This  makes the administration more sensitive to the needs of the people. It also reduces the chances of misuse of power by the public servants  .
